Have a new drive shaft and pinion yoke to install in a 67 with a 12 bolt differential (not sure of type). It has a 390 gear ratio.
I removed the nut from the pinion yoke - should I use a puller to remove the yoke itself? It would not come out with tapping and I do not want to beat on it.

Also, can I change the bearings and seal easily once the yoke is out -without removing the differential from the car? I can move the pinion yoke and there seems to be a little play.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

the only thing that you can replace is the seal and tighten up yolk carefully for as no end play in it.remember to see torque setting on turning yolk or tell by hand. if you tighten it up too tight you will destroy bearings and ring and pinion
