The project is a 36 plymoth coupe. All that is left of the car is a cab, already been chopped. Have acess to a 97 blazer for parts. Going to use it for switches, door hinges, maybe suspension and AC if I can fiture out a way to hide it. My big question is what transmission will be in this blazer? Motor is the 4.3 vortec V6. I'm guessing it wouldn't handle the sbc 383 I plan on putting in (around 370 hp). The 4.3 and 350 have the same transmission bolt pattern don't they? If this tranny won't work what would be the best option. Would like to have overdrive. I have a feeling my best option is going to be sell the motor and trans and buy a TH350.

97 blazer is gonna have a 4l60e in it...you would need a stand alone comp for it, unless you are using the engine and ecm also...i`d prolly sell it in favor of a 2004r or even a 700r4 that was fairly built...are you making it 4wd???that would negate the 2004r unless you divorced the tcase...dont talk yourself into the th350 just over cost...the od is worth every penny imo...not to take away from the th350 at all...very stout for its purpose, but the od makes a world of difference in the amount/way you drive your car...

No 4wd. That would be cool but too much work, and money. I have seen some hot rods done that way. They get up and go. I want this car to be a comfortable cruizer that makes somewhat decend milage so I realy would like that OD.

my question was actually if the blazer was 4 whl drive to begin with...it ads a whole other aspect to the biuld for sure...the od is definately worth it too...
