I'm having the Ford sealed bearings pressed onto the axles tomorrow.

I remember reading something from a BGH post saying to take the O ring off the outside of the bearing before putting the axle/bearing combo into the housing. There is an inner seal that keeps the gear oil inside, so it looks like it's there to keep dirt out?

Has anyone done this with success?

I know my moser outer bearing seal was damaged when Moser pressed them on the axles. Seeps a tiny bit of grease, but not much..

The Moser axle bearings use the o ring to keep the oil in instead of using an inner seal. This usually doesn't work to well, which is why I remove the o ring and install the inner seal. It has nothing do with dirt. This is ONLY for the sealed ball bearings an should not be used with the tapered roller bearings.

Thanks BGH,
Would it matter if I used the inner seal and the O ring on the sealed bearing, or don't bother?

Also now that everything is pressed on the axles, how do you insert them into the housing easily?
