Hope this question is not to basic. When the vinyl top is adhered to the roof is it best to have bare metal, primer or paint for it to stick to? So when you go to the body shop you can save a couple of bucks and not worry about the roof getting paint??

Paint it just like the rest of the car, to prevent damage from possible moisture in the future. You won't need to get as picky with the bodywork and you definitly won't need to wetsand & buff.
