big gear head Oct 24th, 07, 06:26 PM I just want to let you all know how much I have enjoyed being part of this sight. It has been a lot of fun helping you get your rear ends in gear :D I'm not sure, but I think I have been on this sight almost every day for close to 8 years now. I have met a lot of great people here and I have actually been able to meet some of you in person. I will miss being here each day, but God has led me in another direction and I must leave this behind. I will still be checking my email a few days a week, so if there is somthing that you need or a question that you can't find the answer to then send me an email. I'm sure that some of the others here will be able to help answer questions. I am in the process of closing my business, so I have some stock that I need to sell off. If I ever get that book finished I'll be back to let you know.
God bless,
Freddie Byars (BGH)

zx401 Oct 25th, 07, 06:17 PM Anytime I saw your name on a post, I read it cause I knew I would learn something. Thanks Freddie. Folks like you are few and far between. I know God will, and has blessed you, as he has blessed us with your friendship. You take care, and please don't be a stranger. Drop in from time to time just to say "hello." You are part of this family too.
dubs68camaro Oct 26th, 07, 12:44 PM I guess I have to ask what only one other guy did.....why are you leaving?? Does anyone know??? Are you ill???
It's a computer and a website. Will you be somewhere where there is no internet....can I go with you???
You helped me in a couple of big ways with my 12 bolt and not only saved me a bunch of time, but you also kept me from repeating a mistake. Thanks for your endless knowledge. I hope if I ever have trouble with my rearend again, our paths with cross.
click Oct 26th, 07, 01:04 PM Freddie is fine, not selling off his tools but just repriortizing things in his life to spend more time with his 11 year old son, maybe start to build a car with him and more family time. Many folks in here have had to change their daily routines as their lives change around home. When the kids are all gone, its easier but until then... kids are priority for all of us. Right?
His efforts here will be searchable for a long time and equally valuable.

Thanks Jim....I have a wife that is 16 weeks pregnant and the car thing is REALLY going to slow down. Can you delete the link in the engine section?? I shouldn't have posted there.

GMJoe Oct 26th, 07, 02:07 PM good luck in your next venture and thanks for all the great info you shared with us...
JimM Oct 26th, 07, 02:27 PM I ain't buying it... you're as addicted to this place as I am, not to mention all the rest here. You were never here for business, and simply changing your line of work won't keep you from popping in here to help out when you can!
Good luck, take it easy, and see ya soon, Feddy!
Thanks for all your help, both with my 8.5 last year, and for everyone else here you've helped over the years!
dubs68camaro Oct 26th, 07, 04:41 PM Thanks Jim...it sounds like you knew him better than most and that was an encouraging post.......
DOUG G Oct 26th, 07, 04:59 PM Can we get Freddies posts all on a page/stickie/or something so we don't lose his knowledge ?
JimM Oct 26th, 07, 08:44 PM Can we get Freddies posts all on a page/stickie/or something so we don't lose his knowledge ?
Now there is a GOOD idea!
Who's in charge of the drivetrain forum?
Remember the "book"? He vanished for several months, lock stock and barrel, gone... But he came back.
I'll keep my hopes up. Freddy, if you're listening, and the rest of you "Pro's" in whatever automotive field who hang out here too, we need you guys, and we like having you around. A couple thousand really good shadetree mechanics can only go so far. The problem is limited experience. You guys who do this to put bread on your table, you experience is priceless, and thanks for taking the time to share it with us.
pdq67 Oct 26th, 07, 08:50 PM See ya Freddie and come back when you feel you want to.
We will ALL be looking for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Codi Oct 29th, 07, 10:42 AM Man! Talk about a heartbreaker. BGH! May you find all that you are looking for. I (we) wish you all the best in life and love. One thing though, you may not have realized this but you have found a calling and it just may be from us. Please drop in from time to time so we know all is well with you and yours. Lets face it, we all hate to loose a friend let alone a friend with knowledge. BGH FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CFunK Nov 1st, 07, 03:29 AM R.I.P BGH.

dbx1969 Oct 1st, 08, 07:40 AM Hes back?!
This thread is a year old, something that apparently has been overlooked :). Or at least, you'd think the guy who just revived this thread would have quoted/followed a current post of Freddie
click Oct 1st, 08, 07:51 AM Yep Kevin is right, its a year old guys :) but Freddie does hop in and out on occasion, reading and just keeping a tab on us. He also takes direct questions via email if you get stuck. A great car guy and TC member

I thought it unusual when I saw his post.
big gear head Oct 1st, 08, 08:07 AM Yea, I've been looking in durring my breaks at work. I have missed this, but it took a lot of my time before. I'm trying to limit myself to just a few web sights instead of the 8 or more that I was doing before.
67 Plum Oct 1st, 08, 08:53 AM Great to see you back.Several times in the past few months when a ? came up I said to myself Freddie would know.
big gear head Oct 1st, 08, 10:56 AM Just send me an email. I'll answer it.
John65nova Oct 1st, 08, 11:22 AM Great to see you back!
Badbird Oct 1st, 08, 11:28 AM I'm glad you're back Fred!....I followed your advice regarding the tightening of the pinion nut to 150 ft lbs torque and it worked excellent!.....Apparently the previous owner replaced the pinion yoke on my 12 bolt and finger tightened it and I thought I'd have to get the gears set up again until you suggested just to properly torque it down, it wasn't easy or fun laying underneath the car which was on ramps, but I got it!
