View Full Version : A/C Compressor Rebuild? dal777 Oct 24th, 07, 08:44 PM 1969 a/c compressor. Anyone know where to get one rebuilt good--original? Or....affordable correct replacement? THANKS:cool: parkbrau Oct 24th, 07, 11:06 PM You can buy new ones from 300.00. If budget is of concern you can take your chances with a 130.00 rebuilt compressor. Rebuilt compressors have a tendency to leak and or not operate as well as they should. Check with NAPA, Autozone, checkers etc. they can get what you need. cowboybob Oct 25th, 07, 03:18 PM Al, Check with Auto Air in OKC. They are at 300 S. Miller and their phone # is 405-235-2351. I bought my big block A/C condenser from them (it seemed like it was the last one in existence!) and they are great people to deal with...at least in my experience with them. When I was there they had some rebuilt originals on the shelf. Brian dal777 Oct 25th, 07, 03:55 PM Thanks. Yea, I did not want to get one from Autozone, etc. I worked at an auto parts store and it seemed 3 out of 10 were good. JohnZ Oct 25th, 07, 05:35 PM Classic Auto Air in Tampa, Florida does outstanding compressor rebuild work; in any A-6 compressor rebuild situation, be sure they use the GM ceramic shaft seal, not the cheap carbon seal. KevinW Oct 25th, 07, 07:12 PM Wish I could find a home for an A-6 compressor that needs rebuilding :( I have been tripping over it for a while. wagonman Oct 25th, 07, 08:42 PM i have been quoted last week. new ones are like $500 plus..... some places are charging $300 plus for rebuilds... i found two NOS units out of texas for $160 each!!! i cannot beleive how much car parts prices have gone up!! no more....... $12 fuel pumps $27 water pumps belts are now $12 -$25 chevy staters....are no longer $19 Pacecarjeff Oct 26th, 07, 08:43 AM I have a bunch of compressors - let me know what you need.
