i have a 1982 Z28 camaro which i brought recently. I was checking the transmission fluid when the end of the dipstick broke off and fell into the sump.
is there any easier way of removing the broken part other than removing the whole sump?

Try a long magnetic screwdriver down the tube is this where it went.

You were just presented with a good reason to change the trans fluid and filter. When was the last time it was done? If you don't remember off the top of your head it is time.

thanks snake and steve. the job is done and the piece of dipstick has been removed.
we ended up removing the whole sump and while we were at it we changed the trans fluid and now the car is running sweet.
