Hello TC,

How much misalignment is this eBay car going to suffer when it is transported without the lower half of the quarters, trunk pan, and whatever else is missing? I thought it was a big no-no to remove more than one quarter at a time, just to retain alignment.

It should be OK since the top half of the quarter and the sail panels are still there. That and the wheelhouses will give it enough support to flatbed it.I don't think i would tow in ao a hook or dollies though.

If I was going to transport it for a long distance, I would put some blocks under some areas with them fitting snug between the trailer floor and a spot on the car and then real close to those blocks run a tie down to the floor of the trailer. This way I don't think you would be bending it any more than it might be already. If it was a trailer of mine with a wood floor and I was using wood blocks in spots I would toe nail the blocks to the floor of the trailer just so they made the trip home.

Before I cut off and removed both quarters and the rear outer wheelhouses on my 74 I took some tubing and cut them down to where they fit between the bottom of the car and the garage floor. I then tack welded the tubes to the car bottom while they were standing upright off of the garage floor. After I had the panels off, some of the tubes did come off of the ground a little as the body unloaded and twisted just slightly. To get the car back the way it was prior to cutting off the panels I put in some cinder blocks on top of those areas that the tubes were up off the ground and once all the tubes were back on the ground I fitted and put on the new sheet metal.

Hey Fetch,

I hope the car ends up being an SS or Z/28! Maybe it's a long lost COPO!
