I pulled the pan off to change fluid and filter on a car I bought. The engine has not been started since I have had it, 3 years. Its a turbo 400. How much fluid should I put in to start the engine. My primary concern is starting the engine but want enough fluid in the tranny to not hurt it. I think the converter has fluid in it. None shows on the dip stick.

I would guess about 6-8 qts to start.

Would I want it to show on the stick? I know you normally check it warm and running. Where would it show on the stick cold unstarted?
