Ok, guys, help me out here. I have a 67, with a new floor. I am going to use an automatic trans with my original console. I am looking for help from someone who can give me the dimensions of the shifter cutout. As all of you know, the new floors don't have the blind nuts or cutouts. I have heard that the 4-speed and automatic cutouts are exactly the same. Even some of you suggested to use the dimensions as given in a thread here. I don't want to make a mistake on the cutout, you know the old saying, measure twice, cut once? Am I going to have to mock up the shifter under the floor and do it that way using the crossmember? I still have my donor car that was a 4 speed and I have the spot welded ring on the bottom side. So, I don't need 4-speed measurements.

Ok, specifically, I am looking for someone with an automatic car with a console, so I can see your meansurements. Shees, how easy was that now that I tried to explain myself. Thanks guys ahead of time. (I can't wait to hear your replies) graemlins/waving.gif

I have a 67 that originally had a console with automatic. It is a bare floor right now so measurements are easy. Tell me where you want the measurements from - the firewall or the joint in the tunnel. Do you need the size of the shifter opening? My floors and tunnel are original.

Great! I was thinking that the measurements would be from the center of the subframe mount under the seat pan, to the center of the console bracket holes. Measuring both sides. I know that this is probably not the best way, but it will be really close. The shifter rod that attaches to the trans lever and the shifter has alot of adjustment. I was using a string to measure on my 4-speed donor car. I think it is exactly the same. I just want to confirm it with someone who has another car like mine with an automatic. Your help is greatly appreciated. I just thought of something else. Can you take a digital pic of the opening? From the top with a ruler to show size and one from the underside to show the reinforcement plate? Thanks! graemlins/hurray.gif

Does this help? Look at the middle picture (it enlarges). It's a '69 tunnel. You're putting a factory type shifter in?
