Ive seen some cars that have taken the chassis from a 93 and other parts. I was able to find an 02 that i want to use for its parts. What are the chances i could just put the 69 body onto this chassis and be able to utilize all the 02 suspension, engine, etc.

If i can, how big a process would this end up being. How much do mechanics charge for projects like this.

well im a mechanic and never done this. but measurements frame to frame needs to be done. modifying to fit. its is all time and labor. maybe 5 hours or 50 hours.a 70 to 81 camaros close to 67-69. but after that it is totally different. they got tube that goes from rear to tranny. also body welded to frame not bolted to bushings.if someone did it i like to know also. curious minds want to know also.

It's been done before. I'm going to say it is a very labor intensive project that if you had to pay someone to do, the cost would outweigh any benifit you would gain from the updated suspension. Both cars would need to be stripped down, complete floor removed from the '69, body removed from the '02. The '02 would need to be modified to fit under the '69 body as well as parts of the '69 shell modified to fit the '02 unibody. Then, the front clip of the '69 would need to be modified to fit the '02 also. If you want to get a better idea, go to www.sn65.com. They did the same thing with an '03 cobra/ '65 fastback. It took them around 4000 (four thousand) man hours to complete. At a rate of $80 an hour, that's $320,000. It might be a little cheaper to get a max-g chassis set up for the LS-1 and trans mated to it, along with monster brakes, rack and pinion, Corvette(or better) suspension. Or, you could send it to Detroit Speed for them to do their voodoo on it. Either way, good luck on your project.

retro-rides does it for a donor car and $100,000. i don't think it's that easy, or even anywhere close to reasonable for most people's checkbooks. i think you should just appreciate the 69 for what it is and make it the best it can be. for the time and money involved, you could have 2!

Last year at SEMA I saw 69 bodyshells with LS1 bottoms from some company.I don't know who they are but maybe some one else can fill in. With these bodies it is "just" a bolt on swap.

I just don't see what makes all the effort and cost worth it. Is this just one of those things that people do just to say they did it? It's not like a 4th gen is the end all be all of chassis.

For the money wouldn't you save a ton of cash and have a better frame/suspension even with a full Art Morrison setup?

Seems like fitting a 02 to a 69 would only be for bragging rights to say you did it.

I think I saw an advertisement in a Super Chevy or Hot Rod magazine that Goodmark was doing this. I don't know the cost or any details. I would rather stay with 69 Camaros as they are.

if the '02 you found is a Z28, then get it for the engine, trans, seats, and brakes.don't pay more than $3500-$4000 for a running but smashed donor car.
put those parts in your 69 and throw the rest away.

Oddly enough that is what I am doing....

An 02 maybe more then that, mileage & amount of damage sways that price.

The Art Morrison set up is top notch and affordable.
