 Hi, I have a couple of questions on a 67 camaro that I am working on and maybe some of you can answer. The first thing is that I decided to install Detroit Mini tubbs in my car and intend to fit a 335/40/17 tire in the well. Is it necessary to shorten the rear and if so what length and who would you recomened to do the job (I live in New Jersey). I would also like to change over to 4 link suspention any suggestions ? Thanks

Well.......that's definitely a lot of work to 4 link your rear end. If you are not racing it.....not sure why you would want to go through the trouble. You do not have to do that if you are using the Detroit Speed mini tube kit. The kit is designed to use that wasted space between the fender well and the frame. This then allows you to get wheels with more offset (positive) to the inside to get that tire under there. There is no reason to shorten the rear end unless you just have to have a deep dish rear wheel. Your car will probably even handle better with the wider factory width. They even have a kit to relocate your shocks since you will eliminate their mounting area with the new tubes. Although I have not yet done this kit, they told me that you will have to trim and mold your back seat a little to fit the new contour of the wheel wells. I think it's a worth while kit, but the 4 link part really gets you into a lot of unnecessary costs and work. I even think the kit comes with new rear springs and offset shackels.....but I'm not 100% on that part.

Don't quote me on this but I'm almost positive, to get a 335 tire under your car you will need to get a set of offset shackels from DSE as well.

Talk to Mark at SC&C or Frank @ prodigy customs. They both sell the new G-bar suspension which appears to work a little better for street handling and easier to install than a 4 link.Every options has it's benefits and drawbacks. Give them a call or email. I am going with the new g-bar since it is about the same price as a good 4 link yet gets coilovers included and don't have to get a new/narrowed gas tank. Good luck
