I'm looking via long distance at a 69 Z28 camaro. The price is right, but I want to interpret the vin code to verify it is a 1969 Z28 camaro, 4 speed and any other factory equipment codes.

The vin will only tell you if its a six cyl or eight cyl car. You need to post the cowl tag info and the vin to be able to tell anything. And alot of times that isn't even enough. At least post that info to get started

You need the x code from the firewall tag. This is a start. You need all of the codes from this plate.

1969 had lots of things to look for X code if Norwood car, metal plate on drivers side rear wheel well to prove dual exhaust, 4 leaf, single fuel line, trim tag wil help if VIN has a N in it, if it is a L that means LA built car and the X code factor is out the window.. of course 4sp disc brakes and no AIR conditioning, or automatic.. lots of other things to look for..
