My gill trim pieces have little chips out of the black but the chrome looks great. What color black should that be? gloss? dull? some percent?
I dont have a compressor so I cant do the percent mixing. So Id be looking for Krylon type spray can.
Ideas? I searched in here and have not found any reference to Gill color, so this hopefully will help other too.

Original "Trim Black" made by SEM. Check local auto paint supply places. If they don't carry SEM products, they should have something similar by other manufacturers. I'm not familiar with Krylon, but if they have a satin, or eggshell black, you could try that.

Rustoleum 7777 Black would be close. It is not gloss. As always try it on something before the part you want to paint.

I've gotten good results with Plasti-Kote #1103 satin black; I like the color, and it's durable too.

I wouldn't paint plastic with anything but paint formulated specifically for plastic. Rustolium 7777 is great, but I would not use it in this case.

There is a new Spray paint we sell called Krylon Fusion. It is specifically made for Plastic, like shutters and lawn furniture. Click is probably fine painting those small gills with a regular spray paint. Fusion only comes in Gloss black anyhow. I would probably let them sit for a week before installing them so they get plenty of time to cure out and achieve full hardness.

Of course these gills are all metal so the plastic issue is mute for me, but I might clear coat them too for a little extra protection.

yeah, I see that. I thought the original question was about the front grille, and the chrome was the chrome trim insert.
I had a set of quarter grilles with perfect chrome, that I used Rustolium 7777 on. I spend a couple of hours taping with scotch tape. cheaned the chrome with lacquer thinner, and then sprayed. I put on 3 coats.

I also had a pair of NOS quarter grilles with minor shelf scratches. After comparing them to the repainted ones, I sold the NOS.

Those look great. You have been very busy this spring. I cant believe all the progress you've made on you car. I got to get the body shop my car is in to get their butts in gear. My car has been ready for paint since March. They have just been busy, so my car goes to the bottom of the list.
