Does anyone know where I can purchase the spring that goes behind the inlet fitting on a original 67 pump? I went to install it, removed the protective cap on the fitting when I realized that the fitting was damaged (dented on the 45 deg seat). I found a new fitting for it but when I went to replace it I noticed that there is no spring behind the fitting. This pump was a reconditioned pump I bought from eBay a few years back. I guess it's my fault for assuming it was O.K. and not taking a closer look at it when i received it. Seems like whenever I buy something and don't install it right away that this happens. Any help would be appreciated.

There should be a spring in the hole, then a pressure control valve, THEN the rear fitting. The pressure control valve has a flat end, it goes to the rear, against the fitting.
See if you can find an old pump to rob the parts from.

#5 Spring is GM part #5688037 $5.94
#6 Valve is GM part #7809232 $33.78
#24 Fitting is GM part #26009894 $21.75
#23 Seal is GM part #5688035 $4.37
These parts all show up at GMPartsDirect so they should also be available at any dealer.
One thing to be aware of. The Fitting is designed for a metric o-ring 16mmx1.5 hose connection. In 1980 and onward all GM power steering lines were designed as o-ring metric connections.
