I removed one of my of my original seat pans from the old floor Im replacing and I have a question I think you can answer. On the new complete floor there is the bottom part of the seat pan, in removing the original seat pan I notice that there is also a bottom part of this seat pan (Are you following me so far?) Did you remove the bottom of the old pan and attach the top part to the new one on the new floor or vise versa?

P.S. I have XP now so I can try to put pics on posts but I need to know how to do that. graemlins/clonk.gif

Johnny Boy, are you talking about the brace that has the cage nut attached to it? It is on the bottom portion of the attached picture. The procedure below I describe below is for a complete floor pan. If you had the pan that is 1/2 floor, you will have to drill the pan and brace and reuse it. I don't know the difficulty factor of taking it out as an assembly, but I imagine it can be done.

As for the complete floor pan, I drilled out the spot welds on the seat pan just to remove it and left the brace intact on my old pan. Why waste your effort taking something out if you aren't gonna use it. Did you know that brace is actually galvanized? Yepp, originally it was. One more note, It is a heck alot easier to fit just the seat pan, than it is to fit the assembly (seat pan and brace). You will be surprise to find out how easy it is when you fit the old seat pan to the new floor. A little tweaking with a body hammer and dollies are all you need. When it fits really good, I suggest using a couple of sheetmetal screws, or if you are really handy at mig welding, you should be able to tack it in, then weld up all the holes, as I did.

So, as you know, there is a new one already installed on the new complete floor pan.

Cruise master, when I removed the seat pan the brace with the cage nut was attached the the pan so what you are saying is to flip the pan over and remove the old brace and cage nut and attach the the pan only to the new brace and cage nut?

Someone please tell me how to put pictures on this website in posts. graemlins/clonk.gif

Are you using a new complete floor pan or the one which is 1/2 which needs welded down the center to join with the other side?
