There is probably a good reason nobody has been able to help you. You first posted on Nov6th, as other people post other questions, your post moves down in the list and in some cases to a 2nd page. You can revisit your post every day or every 2 days, for example, and if no replies are there, type in 'bump' or 'ttt' (to the top) and your post goes back to the top of the page to be seen better.
Also, with the holidays viewership is always slower too.
Try bumping your post up every few days. Im sure someone familiar with that will help.

I prefer BOINK to BUMP. But that's just me. :)

It works! I just now saw this. I'll get on it right after the game. Mine's original.

I followed a link to a 66 Chevelle that has been in storage since 1979. Reportedly an untouched motor. The cap was smooth and best as I could tell from the pic, had a domed rivet.

OK, here ya go. Speaking of go, go Seahawks. Whew!
What's the story on the 'S'? Never noticed it before. Superengine, like a bird or a plane? Or SS?

I believe the S means it was originally gold cad!! :) I know, I know, give it up.

Actually I think it's for the manufacturer, Stant. I think I have one like that, with some chipped chrome. I thought the originals were more like silver cad. I got the chrome one with the engine, and I always thought it was an aftermarket piece.

Fred, is the whole thing chrome; rivet, and underside?

The whole thing? I never looked that close. Just a second, I'll check. :)Well, the lower picture seems to show chrome under the cap. :yes:The center portion that locks to the cover seems to be treated with 38 years of motor oil.:D
