I did the big no-no and bought a car in primer. I've had it for several years now and it's time has finally come. The car car has previously had some 1/4 skins hacked onto it and much filler to cover the disaster. I don't really need the jamb or roof area, but I do need to go over the peak of the quarter into the trunk jamb area. I have a competent shop lined up to do the work, but want to be as informed as I can. As always, thanks!

Slap the full 1/4's in their by a good shop that will let you stop in from time to time to see their work in progress. Sometimes this annoys us painters, but if your paying a quality price, you expect and deserve a quality job.
The reason I say this is my wifes car got hit in the rear a while back. 4300$ worth of damage. My garage was full and the work wasn't going to cost us a dime to get fixed.
Took it to the local shop and caught them trying to put in partial quarters because they were trying to cut corners and not have to pull the rear glass out.

Yes, if you can afford the parts and labor, the full 1/4's are the way to go!!

But, as redrider cautioned you, watch the shop! It's not that everyone is a hacker, but they're out there.

Back in 1981 when you could still buy the new quarters from dealerships for under $200, my partner had his 69 done by a local shop (very reputable!). We walked in on day and found that they had cut the jambs and sail panels off of his new parts and brazed them in!!!!!!!! http://www.camaros.net/forum/mad.gif I don't think anyone still brazes since MIG welding is cheaper than gas but, for you kids out there, nothing sticks well to brass for very long!

He was horrified, and ended up doing the car all over again five years later. http://www.camaros.net/forum/rolleyes.gif

So, be careful!
