What a find - I just picked up the July 1966 issue of motor trend. The cover has sketches of the camaro concept. The article is titled "chevy's answer to the mustang!" What a great article. It talks about the speculation of what the 67 camaro will look like...infact, it has some paperatsi (sp?) like photos of the 67 being tested. The whole article, including quotes from a press conference with Pete Estes, (Chevy's GM), refers to the camaro by the original proposed name of the Chevy Panther...I can't wait to read this entire magazine.
