View Full Version : 70 1/2 Z28
427fan Nov 8th, 07, 03:10 PM Just curious as to what you guys think the value of a 70 Z/28 might be. I was asked if I would take this car as a partial trade for my 69 vert. It is a western car in excellent shape (underside is exceptional!). It is a mist grn color with a column shift AT(?), 12 bolt, AC, deluxe int., PW. Mostly original paint, 85K. Thank's T.C.
camaromaniac Nov 8th, 07, 03:14 PM I would check whether it is a column or floor shift and if the drivetrain is original & running out strong with no rust? Charlie 69 RS
ps: I might have a "trade for your trade" if your are interested
427fan Nov 8th, 07, 03:26 PM The car is a numbers car, and is a column shift AT. Everything matches except the carb. Car needs restored but is much better than my 35,000 mi 69 convertible was. Floor boards better than average and frame looks real good. I kinda like the car and the color.
rich pern Nov 8th, 07, 03:45 PM Orig drivetrain, especially the engine is the biggest factor in worth. They made many thousands less of the 1970 Z's than the 69's, and they were 360HP!
If a real Z, it will have the floor mounted gas pedal, and if a NOR car, Z28 should be on the trim tag. Not sure, but I don't think you could get the C60 Air Conditioning on the 1970 Z. Check w/ www.nastyz28.com for sure. One thing I can tell you, I LOVE my 70 Z.

Air conditioning became available in z28's in 73. Probably an SS car with L48 or L34 engine, or possibly a prior owner added it to the Z.
rich pern Nov 8th, 07, 03:56 PM Look for the suffix code on the engine. Should be a CTC for an auto Z, and look for the floor mounted gas pedal, only Z's got em (though they do repop em now).
427fan Nov 8th, 07, 04:06 PM Car is a REAL Z/28. That is not in question. The AC was added. The car was sold new in New Mexico. It is a real column shift mist green Z/28. I thought it just might be more or less desireable with the column shift AT and the color. Car is real and needs restored. Body on would work for this car IMO.
rich pern Nov 8th, 07, 04:17 PM then my best guess is 25-30 in today's market, but I suspect that they will shoot up in the next wave of popular cars. 30-35 if it was a 4 speed.
You can always add a auto console and shiftrer........
427fan Nov 8th, 07, 04:29 PM Thank's for the quickie appraisal, Rich. I'm not up on my 2nd gen cars and I really appreciate the input. I believe this individual had the car for sale locally for 19,000. Thank's again guys!
I sold my 70 Z28 a few months ago. All original, born with driveline, all original metal, glass, trim, interior, unrestored, painted only. 3 build sheets, pop. 67,000 miles. 4 owner, nice car. Shadow grey. I let it go for 46,000.
iluv69s Nov 8th, 07, 06:14 PM Hey TDW...Where did you find the 3 build sheets?? I'd sure like to find one for my car...Thanks

Wow! How fast can you close that deal? Unless it is a rust bucket, snatch it up quick.

cruisincreations Nov 9th, 07, 10:41 AM Got 35k and 44k for 2 70.5 Z's both with nom LT1's and 4 spd-both Norwood cars. Hope that helps. 41k was all original metal and interior.
427fan Nov 9th, 07, 01:35 PM No trade. Just bought outright for 18,400. I'll post pics of car soon. Me and a good buddy pooled borrowed money together to get it bought. This will be my first 2nd gen. car and I am excited about restoring it. Thank's again for everyone's post! N.C.
rich pern Nov 9th, 07, 05:38 PM I won't say enjoy it, because I already know you will!

Jeff H Nov 10th, 07, 09:41 AM Sounds like a cool car. Just make sure you and your buddy stay level headed and don't become enemies because of the car. Good luck with it.
iluv69s Nov 11th, 07, 03:52 AM Hey TDW..that must have been an LA car I assume??

Yes it was.
L7869 Nov 11th, 07, 05:14 AM i know it was stated that the AC was added. however if my memory serves me right, Air conditioning was offered on 70 Zs with automatic only.

73 absloutly the first year for ac on a real z 28, auto or 4 speed . if that thing has a factory looking ac system i would deffenetly question that cars vallidity.
