I just wired up my electrical fan and have the fan wire (ok, its a painless wire harness) hooked up to the relay. I have no power to the fan wire. The rest of the relay is hooked up, and when I hot-wire the fan, it works great. I traced it back to the ignition switch and looked at the accessory wire (orange) on the switch. Its currently hooked to the KEY + lug. Everything else is working fine, however, when I checked the fuse block, the fan, wiper and gauge fuses show no voltage whatsoever.
So, my question is, which lug should the orange wire on the switch be hooked up to? I have a KEY- lug thats not currently hooked to anything. Does that one need to be grounded? Looking through the assembly manual really doesn't help on that wire. looks like it goes to a junction block, then spreads out...to points along the way (maybe the instrument cluster?)
I can start the car and it charges the battery just fine....but not everything is hooked up yet...still in the process, so no lights, horn, horn relay, taillights, interior lights, etc, etc.
Am I running a short or ground somewhere on an exposed wire possibly? or do I need to hook up the instrument cluster to complete the circuit?
Any of you electrical gurus that can help, it would be much appreciated! Thanks
John
