victtor Nov 9th, 07, 03:54 PM HI anyone help me with this please i thought that wheel hop only happened under load when tyres break traction mine the other way when u take foot off gas when tyres break traction it feels like wheelhope just shudders ?
thanks
victtor
Fred Ficarra Nov 9th, 07, 04:11 PM I'm not sure that I understand what the problem is. You're letting off the gas and coming down from wheel spin or a burn out and the rear shakes and jumps, right? Believe me, the big boys do that too. Shaking for a short time while slowing isn't a problem. It IS a problem when accelerating.
wiskeesour Nov 9th, 07, 04:43 PM I dont think I understand exactly whats wrong either...Fred if you are thinking corrrectly, then yes, I think you are correct.
Badbird Nov 9th, 07, 05:32 PM Thank God!.....I thought it was just me but I don't know what he means either!.....I was just going to suggest to him to wear a lighter pair of boots when he stomps on it!
Eleanor's Nemesis Nov 9th, 07, 05:51 PM Either way-accelerating or decellerating-you will want to get a handle on it. Wheel hop is a sure fire way to broken axles. Do you have slapper bars on the car?

Good point. Maybe if he has slapper bars the safety shackles over the front of the springs are missing. I still don't think it's a serous condition, without looking at it, of course. victtor, can you post a video? utube?
Strick Nov 9th, 07, 06:06 PM Try cruising the car up to 30-40 mph under fairly hard acceleration (not wheel spinning) and then back off the pedal. Does it shudder then? If yes, take a look at the universal joints, especially the front.
Fred Ficarra Nov 9th, 07, 06:11 PM Another thing victtor, my car had a 3* down pinion angle for the last 38 years. Always vibrated. Now it's 3* up. It doesn't vibrate anymore. Just for your info.
victtor Nov 9th, 07, 10:41 PM yes it only shudders when lift off gas when spinning ,does not do it under full throttle even when spinning ,i have traction bars snubbers up against spring eye ,50/50 drag shocks mt drag radials does not do it when cruising and backin off the throttle have any u guys tryed the old mopar diff pinion snubber trick on camaro with any luck
thanks for advice so far

victtor Nov 10th, 07, 01:57 PM HI guys would a crook or a worn drag shock thats gone off in it damping cause this wheelhop just pull them out notice one does not feel no were as good as the other ,not as much resistance when pulling up and down ?
thanks
victtor
Fred Ficarra Nov 10th, 07, 03:37 PM Well, so much for your shocks. First thing to try. Victtor, you didn't say whether you had the traction bar u bolts installed. And with traction bars, the pinion should never get close to the snubber. As I recall, that old Chrysler trick was used in Pure Stock racing when no bars were allowed.
