Need some education here. At what time did the 69 Camaro switch from 2 piece rotors to one piece and when during that year did Chevrolet switch from 4 piston calipers to single piston?

Not sure on the rotors but the 67-68 uses a 2 piston caliper while 69 is a single piston unit.

Correction, 67/68 used 4 piston calipers. Anyone else got the inside info on the 69 disc brakes?

To my knowledge, rotors were 2 piece throughout the 69 model year.

I recall reading that the rotor switch was done midyear 1970.

How about the calipers, anyone?

They swiched to single piston before 69. My Dec 69 build came with single piston. See sig.

I searched "piece rotors" (two is too short or too common) and got lots of debate. Seems like the concensus is that two piece rotors were used all model year 69. I have never seen a 69 with that rotor, but I haven't seen any low mileage originals with the front wheels off either.

I think the concensus is that the single piston calipers entered production at the beginning of 69 on RPO J52 (power front disc brake only) cars.

That said, the illustration for J52 in the AIM looks like the 67-68 calipers, so I guess they just did not change the drawing.
