How would I go about finding the original 327 block for my 67? When talking about #s matching, what # would I look for, and where would I find it on engine. Is this part of the VIN?

When your talking about #'s matching your talking about the engine the car was born with. You would need to match the vin# to the vin # on the block, this is like finding a needle in a haystack but it can and has been done. It definatley helps to know the history of the car. To do this you need to start talking with former owners and work your way backwards or if you have original documentation start with that. Now just finding a correct engine for your car should be much easier depending on how detailed you want to be. Finding a 67 327 for your 67 327 Camaro is easy. Finding a 67 327 built the 2nd week of march for your 67 Camaro built the 3rd week of March gets a little tougher but should be attainable with a little looking. I attached a link for more info on what to look for.

I believe for '67 327 Camaro engines were not VIN-stamped. Only 350 & 396.

Wow, I didn't know that! Would that make it impossible to find then or is there another id source?

There is no way to identify a '67 327 as the "original engine", as there's nothing on the engine that ties it to a particular car. A 327 with the correct casting number and a casting date that makes sense with a pad stamp date and suffix that also makes sense with the car's final assembly date would work, and nobody could tell if it was original to the car or not.

Camaros Research Group also has an orphans section where they try and reunite engines and drivetrains with the original car. www.camaros.org
