I have a 350 sb and am wondering what my HP might be. Here is what I know. It is a 350 4 bolt bored .030, 2.02 camel hump heads, aluminum 1.5 roller rockers, flat top 4 valve relief pistons, edel 600 cfm carb, edel performer air gap intake, MSD large cap HEI, Z28 cam and Hooker headers. I don't know the cam specs. I am assuming it is standard stroke.

I assume the Z28 cam is the solid lifter cam used in 67-69? I am thinking it is the same cam for all 3 years, but could be wrong-or the 1970 Z28 cam? I think it was different, but I dunno for sure.

If it is that early solid lifter cam I would say around 350-370 HP or so.

The guy that I bought the sb from said the engine was an early 70's. He thought it was like a Z28 cam but no longer had the box the cam came in. It does not have solid lifters, but hydraulics. We popped the heads off before I installed it this summer to make sure the cylinders were still in good shape. It had been sitting in his garage a while.

Would a larger carb help give me more HP?

'70's solid lifter cam is the old -178 jobber and if she is up around 10 to 1 CR, I figure you are at 345 to 350hp or so.

-178 Mechanical - 242/254 - .459/.485 – 116/110 - 70 LT1 360 & 370HP, 71 LT 330 HP

Stocker at 9 to 1 was 330hp back then. If by chance she has dome pistons in her and is up around 11 to 1, she will be 360hp.

Heck, if you have an old 30-30 solid cam in her, all the better, imho!!

-346 Mechanical – 346GM/314WBR/304PatK./254/254 - .485"/.485" – 114/112 - 327 365HP& Z-28 302

It doesn't have the old -962 350hp/350 hy-cam in it, does it?? It's a good old stock hi-po cam too! Imho..

-962 Hyd. - 222/222 - .450/.460 – 115/114 - 350 L-46, L-82

I hope all this is of interest.
