I told myself I would never own another black car. They look great but they show everything.
I own a black car anyway :-)
I were painting from scratch and considering a color change I would go Silver. If you going to go black look into the Mercendez Benz paint and color.
All blacks are not created equal IMHO :-)

Every car, truck and Harley I have ever owned is black, so there goes my unbiased vote.

However I will offer this:
If the wife says black, and you like black, then paint it black and say you're doing it for her, totally for her.
This will give you tons of credits when you ask her for permission to buy all the aftermarket stuff you will need. It adds up fast.

The prettiest 67 I've ever seen was an RS/SS painted Tuxedo Black with Cortez Silver Z28 stripes and black interior, that thing was hot. I want a 67 RS painted Maroon with a white bumble bee stripe and black interior.

That is a hell of a nice 69 you have mark...... if my 67 looks half as good as yours , i will be a very happy man....

I would paint it black. Red looks great too, but black is the best looking 'color' imo for camaros and chevelles-

black hides the gaps the best lol! It also looks hot. I like red too but If i had to choose between those two, black would be the one, but not by a lot . I dont like any stripes on the black camaros but red ones with black stripes look good.

your right, if i go black, there will be no stripe on the nose, if red, i will put a stripe on the nose

I'm voting for the silver... Lol..
but def voting against black.. To much to maintain if your going to drive it regularily.

I have a 68 and it is painted a cross between Guards red and a later model Camaro red. I love it. The stock Bolero red is more of a wine color and is kind of boring.
On the subject of Black. I am a black freak. The best looking Camaro I ever owned was Tuxedo Black with Ivory invterior. With the white stripes and all the chrome it was KILLER. I will add a pic. But now I have the red on red with the black Z stripes I like it.
BUT. If it ever gets painted It WILL be black!

Black is great but it is a misson. I can tell you first hand. If you go red it will be the same to maintain if it is a dark red. Either way the car will be hot. If it is a weekend sunshine car my choice is black. Enjoy. Brian

Black is too much work, both to do the bodywork and paint and then to maintain. Besides it is the original color.

red was its orignal color with black top i think ss tinted windows rear antenna powerglide rear speakers center consol z23 optional int decor gauges clock ralley sport and custom interior.. I am having my 67 rs ss painted ask we speak black with bb stripe in red. good luck

all of the above correct. i even have the pop ..please send pics......now should i put the vinyl back on??? i am really not a big fan of those....

I've drooled over so many black camaros that I kind of surprised myself by deciding on red for my 69 rs/ss.
Having said that, nothing has been sprayed yet...lol...and I still have plenty of time to change my mind at least another dozen times :)

I vote black too. My vert body is already pretty much restored and painted red, but I'm chaning to black. Still considering the white bumble bee... Keep us updated with progress pics... Brian

if you dont mind a non original color black is the way to go. I have a small block ss car I bought 12 years ago it is black with white stripes, it is suppose to be garnet red. well when i bought it I was going to change it back to original right away. CANT DO IT, ITS TOO NICE

Now, to compromise, either get a picture of a car and base color is black, then add red Z/28 stripes, or, cover the real car with black cloth and layover red patches to simulate the stripes?

A friend of mine had a 68 convert and his color scheme is as described, car really looked nice, but then he has a red interior to accent the red stripes.

For as long as I had my 67 (27 years) I wanted to paint it black, So I did in 2004. I love black it looks awesome, but it is PITA to keep clean.
That said I still vote Black.

kris, you live in s. fla like me, sorry but black is toooo hot! think about the silver. my 67 will probably be yellow. originally white but $99 blue paint job right now. :(

if the heat is not an issue then make the wife happy and remind her of it every time you order more stuff. :)

I can’t post pictures. Go over to the “wheels & tires” forum. Go to the sticky “post your pictures.” Go to page 3, post #42. It’s a picture of Razor’s black Camaro in Hawaii. His car is all black & chrome. Its killer. There are also a couple of red Camaro’s posted on the way down to post # 42. Razor’s black Camaro wins hands down in my opinion.
I had a non-matching numbers RS convertible years ago & painted it red. I hated it. Sometimes there would be 4 other red convertibles (different makes & models) at the same intersection waiting on the red light. I didn’t realize how common a red convertible was until after I painted mine that color. A black 1st generation Camaro with the right stance & all can just look cooler & meaner than the average bear.
