383 ci
Mahle flat top 5cc pistons
4340 eagle crank/ 4340 h beam rods
I have both a victor jr, and a rpm air gap intake (prolly leaning toward the air gap)
Speed Demon 750 carb w/ annular boosters
1 3/4 hooker super comp headers
Comp Solid Roller XR280H cam
(242/248 at .050 and 570/576 duration with a 1.5, but I figure I'd go with a 1.6 on the new heads...)
Looking to stay just under 11:1 compression
I'm open to changing something if you think it's worth a dramatic increase in power, but I'd like to stay at least as streetable as I currently am. It has ported Sportsman II's on it now and it made 485+ hp like that on the dyno.

64 cc AFR 200cfm.
use a felpro 1094 head gasket.
Motor would be close to 525...with 11.1:1....it would be ok on pump gas. I have never had a prob with aluminum heads and 11.1.
Some say it causes trouble. I may have gotten lucky. dont want to risk it? use thicker head gasket bring cr down half a point...JMHO of course...

65 CC AFR 195 eliminators. I talked with one of the guys at AFR and he recommended that I could go as high as 11.3:1 and still run on pump gas, with my particular cam, a comp cams XE284. This article states that on a 383 using these heads, xe 284 cam, 750 demon and a super victor and made 518 hp.

This is what I was afraid of. With only gaining 30-40 hp, and it being a 1500 dollar investment, I might as well throw on a 150 shot and call it a day... What do you guys think?

Ha I was in your position before too. Fact of the matter is, is you can't go better than the new AFR's for a sbc. I say make it a monster with the heads then juice it :D
shouldn't need any bigger than the AFR 195 eliminators. They outflow their 210 predecessors (sp?)
