1. Silver grille
2. Yenko removed the front bowtie
3. First batch of 50 was X66 and had the black tailpan.
4. Yenko removed the rear bowtie and and used the two holes as the inside hole for the Yenko emblem to the left, and 427 to the right.
5. No deluxe interiors..all were black standard, only one console car.

Email me with any other questions. I'm no expert, but I am building a Yenko clone, too.

If you go to the webshot photo albums in my signature, in the 'First Generation Camaros of Arizona members' cars - album 2' and the 'miscellaneous photos from DPG 50th Anniversary event' albums I've got photos of an original owner's yenko that is a member of our club.

And if you go to our club's website

http://clubs.hemmings.com/azcamaros/

in the newsletter section is the January 2003 newsletter with an article on the car. Hopefully that'll help.

Jack Douglas Yenko's had the bowties.

The first batch of 69 Yenkos at Douglass came from Yenko Chevrolet. They had the bowties removed. The balance were Douglass ordered COPOs with Yenko graphics applied by Douglass. They broke the mold on the "Yenko base car" They ordered colors other than the 6 Yenko colors. They might have ordered other interiors than the 711 standard black. I was not aware that the JD cars had the bowtie.

BTW, the some Yenko purists do not consider JD Yenkos "real" They are not counted in the 198 (or 201) Yenkos.

I have seen a white Jack Douglass Yenko Camaro with black interior and black stripes.

To me it’s funny that the 201 number is still used. About 20 years ago Vince E. did an article on the Yenkos and used the 201 number. He then rechecked his records and found that 3 cars were either cancelled/reordered or miss counted, so in later articles he corrected the number to 198. The 201 number is a 20 year old mistake that for some reason will not go away.

Did all Yenkos have the stingray hood? I read somewhere that the 'vette hoods were only on the 67s. The 68s and 69s had a different hood (?).

Some of the 67 Yenko Camaros had a fiberglass hood with a 67 Corvette style "stinger" scoop. It was an option and not all had it.
The 68 Yenko Camaros had a different style fiberglass hood that looks a little like a 68 Corvette big block hood.
69 Yenko Camaro used the stock cowl induction hood

1) Silver
2) A few early '69s did as well as the Douglas Yenkos. Most were removed by Yenko.
3) Only the early X66 coded Yenko Camaros received the Blacked out tail panel.
4) A few early '69s did as well as the Douglas Yenkos. Most were removed by Yenko.
5) No deluxe and other than black interior Yenko Camaros have been documented as sold from Yenko or Douglas Chevrolet or any other network dealership.
