Been reading up on my zz4. GM is recommending 32 total timing. I have mine set at 36 total in at 2800. Seems to run pretty good. Should i reduce the timing? Is the recommended 32 because of the fastburn chamber? Thanks

I asked similar question a couple months ago. Someone posted a link that explained it fairly well so you may want to search back for it. You are correct that it had to do with chamber design. I run 32 total in my ZZ383 and runs real well but haven't tried bumping it up any higher yet.

Doug...I would wait to see what happens when you go to the track. Start off with 32 and move up 2 deg at a time with each pass. Whatever one gets the best mph...keep it! You could also go play on the chassis dyno and see what it likes best.
My dad had ZZ430 in his 280Z and he always ran his at 32. But he may have been leaving power on the table.

Thanks. I guess i will take it to the track next year and start at 32 and go up from there. See what happens. Thanks again. Doug
