DanW Nov 15th, 07, 02:40 PM No. Are the homemade stripes supposed to better indicate this was a Z28? The fender emblems (in the wrong place) only hinders its effort to prove it was a Z28.
78MBA Nov 15th, 07, 02:46 PM It's also got a 10 bolt rear, which could very well have been a replacement but then the entire drivetrain is missing. No X code on the cowl either so it just keeps getting harder to prove.
8ballracing Nov 15th, 07, 03:21 PM My opinion No
78MBA I do not think 68's had X codes ;)
Looks like someone had a lot of hopes and visions but lacked ability and or funding........They are smart enough to put it on ebay I would think they would have found out if it was a true Z or not.
Looks like it has potential for once being a small block SS....but now just another first gen seperated from its pedigree.
current price seems to reflect condition....

And it looks like very fresh painted stripes at that :(

no69x-44 Nov 15th, 07, 07:57 PM Judging from the looks of that power brake booster ... I think I would have to say NO. I dealt with a '68 Chevelle with a load of rust similar to the likes of this car and I will never, ever attempt to do that again ... no matter how the cheap the car comes to me. What you can see is maybe 1 tenth of rust in actuality. Good luck to the buyer, I say.
BelAirBob Nov 15th, 07, 08:21 PM The date code from the rear would prove whether it came with the car. If it did, its not a Z,since they had 12 bolts. That single clue could help solve the mystery. But..I say no, as well.
Eric Kammerer Nov 15th, 07, 08:24 PM Is this car local to you H? Or are you off somewhere else?
Somewhere in there is a glovebox, probably. Be interesting to see what the tire sticker says if it still has one. That would be something to check in person if you could.
If it's not completely gone underneath, it would be worth saving. I love a Butternut/black top/black custom bucket 68. It certainly is worth a look if you can. Can't tell enough from the pics on the auction, nor can we see all the parts that go with.

Your right they don't! It was my bad I glanced at the car very quickly and thought I was looking at a 69...I really don't know why, guess I just had 69 on the brain.
RPOZ28 Nov 15th, 07, 08:42 PM It at least had a muncie in it and is a speical order paint car that had a black vinyl top. Its worth a look, some more pictures would be nice.
wiskeesour Nov 15th, 07, 11:46 PM NOPE. nowhere near close Eric. Would like to see in person also. If it could be, I was gonna send a friend to check a few things...I would KILL for a true 68 Z/RS
Everett#2390 Nov 16th, 07, 04:54 AM Z/28's have power steering as well, not this one.
Eric Kammerer Nov 16th, 07, 07:07 AM Power steering was not part of the Z package; it was an option on all 1st gens.
And I don't think it's a special paint car. I think there's a "Y" in front of the -, it's just not scraped off like the rest. 67 and 68 tags always have a - between the bottom and top codes, and there is something to the left of the - on this tag.
Too bad Harley! I guess you could always email the guy for more pics to cehck condition and RS status, and to ask about the tire sticker. You just run the risk of alerting other buyers. I'd also want a complete inventory of the $4K in parts plus pics to see if they are any good.
chuck69ss Nov 16th, 07, 08:43 AM ...And I don't think it's a special paint car...
Sure it is Eric. It's a special 'spray paint stripes' car. I would think that would only make it more valuable... :clonk:
Eric Kammerer Nov 16th, 07, 09:26 AM Now that's good. The FBRCD (Fisher Body Rattle Can Deluxe) stripe option.

Maybe its my eye's but I don't see a Y on the trim tag. Ed
