hello,
My question to you is that i have a two four barrell holley carbs on top of a weiand tunnel ram in my 1979 z28 camaro 350. I have not a lot of experience on carbs as i am 16 years old so basically in training. The gas is burning really rich. And i read some stuff on the vacuum advance. Any help would be helpful. And diagrams would be extremely helpful. Again I am only 16 so basically in training wheels. Know enough to get me in trouble. And i just joined the forum so this does fit into this category.. kinda

first of all welcome to team camaro.for the motor. need carb sizes. what tunnel ram, pistons that are in car aka compression ratio and such. cam profile and rocker ratio.exhaust running and through headers or not. street or just racing.heads also, gear ratio in rear. alot of kids throw this tunnel ram on with double carbs sticking out of hood to look like they got a race car but in turn it is a piece of garbage sucking down gas galore and no power at all.also it will kill motor quickly with gas washing down cylinders. check oil smell it, does it smell like gas.

A tnnel ram on the street can be a problem. Hopefully whoever did it set it up properly, with one of the smaller manifolds and 450 cfm carbs. "Race" setups can be real hard to tune idle and and throttle correctly.

Any more info you can get would help. There should be a 4 digit "list #" on the carbs, for starters. Even a pic would help.

ok yeah i have the two 450 cfm carbs not sure about gear, compression. It has the weiand tunnel ram, doube hump heads. Yeah the oil smells a lot like gas. When i take off the breathers on the valve covers a lot of gas. And after the car is shut off from idling, i pull the trottle cable and smoke pours out of the carbs. Im thinking its the gas vapors. And i didnt set it up i bought the car to get as close to drag as i can get with it still being street legal so just begun. Thats about all the info i can give you. Like i said im 16 and i know quite a bit but i bought the car as is so far and have not a lot on knowledge with this type of tunnel ram. Thank you

you should try to sell that set up or trade it for a edelbrock performer intake and a edelbrock 600 carb.you will be much more happy with it.it will run good and strong and get better fuel milage and just about need no tuning:thumbsup:
