Just wondering. I was in a car show a few weeks ago and heard a guy talking to another guy saying how you can tell an original from a repro. After the conversation I asked him to take a look at mine for the heck of it. He showed me how you can tell with the spot welds and all. It also helped that I still have the GM sticker on the hood too. Anyway he was saying that GM doesn't make them anymore and it's worth good money:D. What do you think it's worth?

I know orig NOS fenders go for 1k ea. I wouldnt be surprised if a hood was about 1k as well.

Are their any tel tale signs that would indicate its GM? I have one too and if its worth 1 K I will get rid of it I just want to be sure mine is Orig GM.
Some of the things that make me think it might me is it has the flapper and stuff in it and it doesn't look to be aftermarket But thats all I have to go on

They range from $400-$700,depending on condition. I just watched a new in box one not meet reserve on Ebay at $600. The guy wanted $850, and could not get it. I think that $1K might be a bit stout right now.

One way to tell real GM vs. repro is that the GM cowl hood have a sort of a "notch" on the sides of the hood up near the top (closest to the windshield). The repro hoods are flat or smooth there. I'm probably doing a lousy job in explaining this, but once see them, you will know right away.

Would that be the notches where the hood bumpers line up to?

Remember it's only NOS once! Once it's painted and installed it's just a GM hood.

My entire doghouse is NOS, including fenders, hood, argent grille (yes!) cowl panel, header, valence, headlight bezels, core support, battery tray, one inner fender (other is original). Probably $4-5 grand worth of stuff. Now if is sold it off, it might be worth $1500.

I'm almost sure he is talking about the indent or notch that lines up with the cowl panel grills at the rear of hood.

Are they still available or still making them? They may have some but not making them.
