View Full Version : Would this be a good manifold for me?

The one i have now is a Brodix dual plane HV1016. I want to put a scoop/air cleaner on my carb but it needs to be about an inch or 2 bigger. SO instead of just getting a spacer i thought why not upgrade my manifold to a taller/better one.
My carb is a Holley 750 4150 series
Tacoma Tom Nov 18th, 07, 12:37 PM I just realized that my heads are 23 degrees? I am not sure what that means but that intake is for 18 degrees.
JimM Nov 18th, 07, 01:04 PM The 23 and 18 degrees refers to the relative angle the valves are in relation to the cylinders.
Gen 1 and Gen 2 small blocks are 23 degrees, and no a manifold intended for 18 degree heads won't fit.
Tacoma Tom Nov 18th, 07, 01:39 PM I figured that was it. So what would be the best intake then. I am looking for something tall that will get the scoop out enough through the hood.
79ProjectZ28 Nov 18th, 07, 01:50 PM I like my Weiand HI- tunnel ram, with the two 450 cfm carbs. But thats just me.

I happen to have that exact set up sitting right here on the floor next to me :) How does it perform on the street?

79ProjectZ28 Nov 18th, 07, 02:08 PM haha good question. I just got the car and havnt got a chance to race it down the road yet. I bought it from a guy who says it proforms really well. So far ive just got it to idle. I have other priorities i have to adress before i take it out of the garage. With mine it has a little hesitation issue im working on. Its in my 79 z28 350 sb. So i guess i should be asking you how it performs.
Tacoma Tom Nov 18th, 07, 02:10 PM Well it looks pretty cool sitting on the floor, but thats about all i know yet. I was gonna sell it and buy a NOS kit. Now i am not sure.

79ProjectZ28 Nov 18th, 07, 02:14 PM It will look even better in your car. Yeah with mine i just have to fine tune the carbs and time it. Then on to the winter body work. Sorry i couldnt be any more help. I actually think you helped me out. Now i know that the butterfly flap intake will work on it. But do what ever you want sell it for the nos kit or keep it. I would say keep it.

79ProjectZ28 Nov 18th, 07, 02:15 PM But if your looking for a taller/bigger manifold. Thats it..
Old baldguy Nov 18th, 07, 02:17 PM TT You are Drag racing right more that show and cruse??,dump the dual quads idea and get the manifold you are looking at in summit or stay with what ya got and do a 1 in spacer save your $$$ and test and tune next yr. PIR opens 2nd sunday of 08 as long as its not raining..., Happy Motoring
zdld17 Nov 20th, 07, 04:29 AM I agree the proram looks cool but only for raced car. It will run, but not good on the street. Why not put a blower on it and be done, blow the wheels and you money.
