I have had Hagerty for going on 6 years. Agreed value for total loss, but still some dealing/haggling necessary (as with all insurance companies) when you are talking about a repair/partial loss claim, especially when considering preexisting damage, rust, etc. Still, they are good to work with. ps: you can do a search on here for collector car insurance and find all kinds of threads on the subject.

I tried to insure my 67 Camaro with those guys about 3-4 yrs ago while it was still a work in progress. They did not have a problem with the fact the car was not drivable. They did have a problem that was absurd!!
They would not insure me because my daily driver was too old! It is a '74 Chevy Impala that I would drive anywhere, no problem. Their logic was that it was too old and unreliable and when it broke down I'd "want to jump in the Camaro" ect. They said some bs about your primary car having to be less than 20 yrs old. It didn't matter that my car was mechanically sound, I'm a pro auto tech, and that I can fix it with a handfull of tools and no %&*@#$% scanner.
So, a CLASSIC CAR INSURANCE co. would not insure my non- runing classic car because my running classic car was too old. It really pissed me off at the time. Now, just thinking of that logic makes me realize that they were just another example of car clueless insurance people. I now have stated value insurance with Farmer's with no restrictions on milage or any of that stuff. It is a little more money, but I have both cars and my renter's with them so, overall it is ok.

Had a huge rock kicked up by a semi on a trip that nailed the center of my original glass windshield. Haggerty paid 100% of replacement cost of matching number etched replacement  they never questioned my need to replace with properly etched glass with tint in top section. :)

2 claims, one a tow and the other a replaced windshield. No questions asked either time, I fax'd them the bill they mailed me the checks.

Chuck maybe they didn't explane to you why your daily driver has to be no older than 10 years old at the time they cover you. The underwriters that Hagerty use (the folks with the money) set the rules. It's to satisify them that you will not be driving your insured classic to work or other daily driver duties. It tells them you most likely have a daily driver in decent condition. You classic is bound to be running sooner or later and they don't want to be covering a daily driver if you decided it's the 74's turn at a restoration or something.

Oh and I might as well point it out because I know others will as well. That "stated" policy will likely result in the ins co handing you a check for about half of the stated value of your car in the event it's totaled. Stated policies are based on depreciation and comps. You car may be worth $30K and if they find $15k comps that is what they want to pay... You need an agreed policy to insure you get the "agreed" value of the car.

My 2 cents..... I believe I was 36 years old and got my first speeding ticket. Haggerty wouldn't touch me. Grundy had a different outlook.... and a more realistic one, in my opinion. How many people do you know who haven't gotten speeding tickets.... or even just one? I understand they can pick and choose who they want to insure.... but then again, they aren't the only classic car insurance company, therefore Haggerty, although I respect their decision.... they can respect my decision to support a more understanding company.

I recently went with Hagerty after pricing out many other companies. They are very reasonable and easy to work with. I went with agreed value, a value I chose....

And I am one of those people that has never had a speeding ticket, not that I didn't deserve one.

I have had two tickets for "parking on the sidewalk" (motorcyle), and one window tint.

I use Hagerty and have nothing but good things to say about them. I have a 25k agreed value policy for $212 a year. They are very happy to take my money every year, I can't comment on their claims process as I have never had a claim with them. I know a few people who have made claims with them and were very happy with the process.

I've had hagerty since I got my car about three years ago. Never had a claim yet, Knock on wood. I have also got a friend to switch to it also. He was paying as much for six months coverage than I paid for a year:yes:

How did you get the $212/yr quote. I did their online quote and it cost me $595/yr with the basic coverage and agreed value of $35,000. I'm 60 y/o, no tickets for a long, long time. How many miles do they let you put on a yr. I drive my car a fair amount.

My car is original, has your car been modified at all? I believe the premium is more if so. I told them that I would drive my car about 5,000 miles a year and that was no problem with them , although I only drive it about 2,000. I'm not sure why your quote would be so high, maybe you should call them? 1-800-922-4050

(I read your signature and see your car has been modified....I'm willing to bet that's why the high quote)

Ya know,,,,,, these guys are car nuts. Maybe that explains how they set their rates. I get 4 times the coverage as '67' for twice the premium. No restrictions of any kind, mileage or otherwise. (except organized racing. Street racing is covered, of course.) Also they didn't offer a policy without pictures of my car that were emailed to them by my other vehicles insurance agent. They knew that their 'exposure' to risk was very low, thusly the rate.

I also have Haggerty. Had a claim a couple of years ago when a lady decided to use the back of my 69 cougar as a stopping block at the light. She had Allstate. As if I was even going to try to go thru her insurance. I went through haggerty, no problems and they turned around and subrogated against Allstate. Didn't know about the 20 year old daily driver however. I may be in trouble soon since my 'daily driver' which get about 500 miles per year on it since I also have a company car is an '88.

RJBaileyrn, your premium is higher due to some 'minor' modifications to your ride..(69 RS, 360, 4-speed, 9.7/1, 4.10, Comp XE274H, JEG'S roller rockers, 197cc alum. hds, Performer RPM, Quik Fuel 750, 1 5/8 headers, MSD 6AL & Pro-Billet Dist., Slide-a-links. M/T 28X10.5X15 slicks)

My '68 cougar is a little higher than the others due to engine mods I told them about.

I use a company called Classic Automobile Insurance. They will insure classics, exotics, street rods and pro street autos. They insure my 69 X11 Pro Street. It's got an agreed value policy for $430 a year based on appraised value of $45K and 3,000 miles per year. Hagerty and Grundy deal mostly with classics from my experience.

I have Haggerty Insurance with agreed value of 50k. It $700 a year. I have modified insurance due to a prostreet car w/ roll bar, big tires and blower motor. All I did was send them pictures. I need to up my insurance to about 70k due to the price of our cars today.

How long ago was it when you got your insurance with Hagerty? When I asked Hagerty several years ago about Pro Street vehicles, they would even talk to me:mad::(

I wonder if it was the "slicks" that gave him away!

I have Haggerty. I like dealing with them. Had to get the car towed home and their towing policy is top notch. Also, they surcharge me 50% due to the rollbar. When I spoke with them, they weren't concerned with a modified motor except they did say absolutely NO to a blower.
