Hello all! I am hip deep in a Disk Brake upgrade and just got feedback from multiple suppliers that the 93-97 Rear RH caliper bracket referenced on Torker's Website for disk brake upgrade has been discontinued with no follow on PN. After a series of cursory calls to the local bone yards - these parts have been picked off of the cars already.

Can anyone recommend a source that may still have some of these on the shelf or an alternate design that will use the same caliper/rotor/e-brake?

Thanks,

Jereme

Can your dealer do a national search... may be some on the shelf in middle of nowhere ?

E-bay ?

Yes, I tried this and they reported that none are available. I am still on the hunt... Thanks.

Still working the Junk Yards.... Another Option is GM PN 10136854. This is what is listed on Third Generation Websites as and option for a 1LE 12" PBR upgrade. I read one comment that indicated that it is interchangible with the 4th Gen mounting plate.

Can anyone confirm if this is accurate? Will 10136854 work in place of 18019858 to install 4th Gen 12" rear brakes on a 1969 camaro with a 12 bolt Posi rearend?

Thanks,

Jereme

if someone was to start making these things, they could sell a lot of them. is there any reason they couldn't be made out of a machined piece of thick plate steel instead of being cast?
maybe i should get my hands on a pair and take them to work. i bet they could whip up a CNC program to make some in no time using that cool "robot arm" point plotter thing they use to check the parts we make..

my baer brake kit came with those pieces made out of a 1/4" piece of plate, so I think its do-able

I won the auction! So now I will need to modify the LH unit to "reclock it" to clear the shock.

It would still be interesting to know if the 3rd gen PN will will work. After talking to the GM parts counter, it was described to me as a flat piece of steel plate that was drilled to mount to the axle housing. Then use a series of shims to center the caliper over the rotor. The shims are out of production but the mounting plates are still available for $25 each.

Does anyone know if the mounting points on for a 3rd gen axle and a 1st gen axle are the same? If so then it could be a simple shiming exercise or hopefully a minor fabrication project to complete.

the only 3rd gens that got rear disc brakes had the 9 bolt Borg Warner rear axle, and i think they used a different flange bolt pattern and the wheel mounting flange was either farther out or closer in than a "normal" GM rear axle.
that's not to say they can't be adapted, tho.

Really? Huh. Even the late ones with the better (LT1) aluminum calipers?
