: Is this the right M.C.?

I've got a '69 RS with 4 wheel power drums. The master cylinder had a leak so I was debating whether or not to use it as an excuse to convert to discs or just fix the drums. MC's online are around 70 bucks vs. the 600ish it would cost for a disc conversion, so I decided to just fix the drums for now. While I was at auto zone today picking up (or I should say ORDERING) a new lower radiator hose I asked if they carry the MC & what it costs...turns out, after the core charge they only charge $15.99, so I went ahead & bought it. It doesn't look the same though...at all. Is this one okay to use? New one's on the left, original is on the right.

After bench bleeding it & putting it on the car, it doesn't look like there'd be a problem, the lines match up correctly, the flange is the same, and I have perfect pedal pressure...it just looks so weird I want to make sure I'm not going to regret using this one the first time I take it out on the road...

probably will be fine, I purchased a rebuilt master a couple years ago and it was like $25
i have never seen a master cylinder cap like that, kinda odd

the master should have bleeders on the driver side side, it should work fine if that all your looking for.

With the brakes, my only concern is safety. Secondary to that is cost, then looks, then factory accuracy, the ease of installation/maintenance. So as long as this is safe I'm cool with it, once I turn in my core it'll cost me a net of $16, so cost is good. I didn't have to modify the booster or rebend the brake lines or anything, so even though it looks funny factory accuracy is good enough for my purposes, the only thing I don't like is having to go grab a 1/2 inch socket every time I want to check the fluid level.

1st Source, there are no bleeders on this one, I had to bleed it with the little plastic adapters that go into the outlets for the lines. Thats not a big deal though, right?

The master cylinder on this car is the one I like to use.

The 69 Z I use to have had one like it. I think it was original. It was also used on corvettes and ¾ -1 ton trucks. It holds more fluid, the cap is easy to get off and bolts right on despite what a someone at the zone argued with me on once…
