Affordable power upgrades for street car might include aftermarket heads with 1.94/1.50 valves and 67cc (similar to 275 hp 327 option), exhaust headers, dual plane aluminum intake, quadrajet or performer style carb. Could consider GM style 300 or 350 hp 327 cam for cam upgrade.

Thanks, where should I look for these items. Do you suggest any good performane shops?

Just a pair of bowl-blended and port cleaned up 64 cc heads w/ .020" thick steel shim headgaskets, a stock Q-Jet and cast-iron intake and a set of headers will make her right at a 300+ hp or so engine!! Add a CC 268HE or a Crane/Cam Dynamic 272/272 Energizer hy-cam and probably right at 350 to 360 hp...
Install a Holley 300-36 intake or an RPM and a 3310-2, 750 carb., a CC 282S solid lifter cam and along w/ the 1.625" dia., 4-tube, long headers uncorked, and you will be looking at say right at 400 hp....
And I gotta tell you that these little solid lifter engines DO run GOOD!!
You notice, NOTHING fancy here at all b/c GM got the little 327 engine just about dead-nuts right to begin with, imho.....
