: Dash paint blisters?

Well, I read some back posts about cleaning the dash metal REAL good before painting.
I guess I didn't clean it good enough. I sprayed urethane enamel on it and I got some "blistering" like there was silicone left on the surface. I had cleaned it several times w/wax, oil cleaner and sanded it smooth- most of original paint still on.
The question is: What to do now?
1. Remove all paint and start over w/ primer and paint
2. Sand it all smooth and use some kind of primer that is resistant to contaminants before painting
To me, option #1 sounds the best as I would never know if it will "blister" again unless I get it down to bare metal.
If any one has experience with this "blistering" problem, please chime in.
Thanks,
John

You have to completely remove the old paint. Nothing sticks to that stuff.

Suggest a chemical stripper. Sanding will just "push it" right into the metal.

Armorall and other "protectants" will penetrate all the way through to the metal under the paint, and even if it didn't intially, sanding before you have it really clean will drive it into the remaining paint anyway, so #1 may be your only choice at this point.

Search "dash fish" and "dash fisheye"; there's a lot of info here on what guys have done to fight the fisheyes on their dash.
