I just bought a Gen VI block from Scogggins-Dickey In TX. after reading another post. I now wonder if this block is thick enough to makey a race motor out of. I have been sleveing all my blocks. Has any body sonic checked you if these Blocks?? Will it go .70 over and still keep Straight walls. Help Please. I can cancell the sale. Also They are having a free freight sale till monday night.
Thanks Larry A/SA:beers:

I don't know what you are going to do but the Gen V1s have thinner main webs and they do break.

Thanks guys. I'll post over on the Chevelle site later. Here is what I have done and do.
I build 427's for NHRA stock Elem. I take a 454 block and sleve all eight cylinders. This is done because of age and the sleves have a higher nickle content. I also bush the lifter bores and install 4bolt main caps.
I just thought that starting out with a new block would save me the sleveing job. BUT, if the block is thin them I'am wasting my time and money I would Like to thank the people who run this site. I visit often and read a lot. Thanks!!!!!! I mailed you a check last week

Dart Big M block is what you need. GenVI will not go that far on an overbore 0.030" max. Sleeves in a Siamesed block will take care of core shift and give you a uniform thick wall, but for the money you are paying I would go with a Bowtie DRCE block or a Dart.
