I have a NOS 4 bolt main block, cast date is F148 (6-14-68) Cast # is 3970010, Ser # is CE7N26783, hope this can help.

Are you stamping a CE ?

Hi Chill, no I am not stamping my block, I bought this block as a spare for a future project last year. It is a counter exchange bare block that has never been put together, my guess?, it was for a truck motor 327 replacement. I purchased it from a guy who has quite the collection of rare and new old stock parts that he collected over the years. He has some real cool stuff, factory experimental intake manifolds that begin with 0- casting numbers. I asked him if he used be an engineer for GM in the 60's. He kind of laughed it off but did not deny it. I know the 010 block was introduced in the later midyear 1969 production for camaro's, I have also seen books that indicate it was used in 1968 also. What I really wish for is a set of those 302 experimental GM hemi heads to slap on my 69 z28 !!, oh well maybe someday I can sneek into some secret warehouse at GM's michigan proving grounds and find one of those small block aluminum mystery engines with dual overhead cams.
