I'm driving my 69 at night, on a dark road, when my headlight suddenly cut off. About 5 seconds later I loose all power to the car. Its a crate 383 stroker & everything is new. I cleaned up the terminal posts(clean already)
and tried jumping it and still nothing. The engine has 600 miles and everthing was fine before that. Where do I start???
Thanks, Mike

#1: fusible link on horn relay, main power feed to fuseblock.

If you don't have a decent digital voltmeter, might be a good time to go get one, they cheap and useful.

Thanks Jim, I already know my steering column is bad. I have an appt. soon to bring the car back to the builder for some touch ups and replace the steering column. Is there something in general I could look for in the column that I may be able to get her up and going again before that.
I'm not the handiest guy in the world so if its very involved i'll have to wait
Thanks, Mike

I have seen that same thing happen once. Turned out it was the power cable to the starter was touching the exhaust manifold. Took a while for it to melt through but once it did it shorted everything out.

Jim,
I finally got around to looking in the area that you showed me and
within seconds I found a loose wire. The car fired up right away when
I reconnected it. Thanks alot
Mike:beers:
