I have Caltrac bars and mono leafs on my '68. I will be replacing my Competition Engineering shocks soon, with QA1's. I will also be replacing my front springs (from a 396 Camaro) with drag springs. I'm leaning toward the Moroso trick fronts, because I've used them in the past and liked them. I have another tenth to get with my suspension.
Who is using Moroso trick front springs, and how do you like them for drag race weight transfer?
What other front springs are you drag race guys using that work well?
Thanks in advance.

I had that identical combination and had 1:37 60' times NA. I used very short front snubbers to get more front end travel. The mono Landrums fatigued very fast, you could see the rear of the spring almost had a small negative arch. Goodluck.

Click on my signature and go to page 2. You can watch my 68 leaving the line with caltracs and split monos. I had my suspension set-up all wrong that day and still cut 1.67 short times (running a manual). I use chevy standard 6 cyl springs with 90/10's up front. At the time the video was shot, I had my rear shocks set wrong, and the caltracs in the wrong hole.
Best of luck to you. Those caltracs are good stuff IMO.

Thanks so far guys.
I also like the Caltracs. My 60 ft times are 1.52 on 275 MT Drag Radials. I am certain slicks will get me into the 1.4's and better suspension and t tuning will yield a bit more.
Any thoughts on front springs? Morosos? Other?

Running Moroso and really like them. Were put in full length no cut coils. Feels like the front wheels are off the ground with so much lift.

I had that setup in my 68 for awhile. I have 90/10's with Moroso springs cut 1/4 coil, and in rear landrum mono's with Caltracs, no front sway bar. It would launch hard felt like the wheels would pull off the ground but watched the video and they didn't. :( But I added a transbrake and they did :)
I was pretty consistent is the high 1.3's to high 1.4's when I was drag racing it. It was a SBC on bottle with a TH350 400 Coan 9" stall and a brake on the BFG Drag radials.... I loved it... Now I am into the Protouring style more but I kept the Caltracs on the car and changed everything else because I like them.

Bigblock or smallblock? I have a smallblock and wondering if I'll need to cut a coil at all. I don't want a super high ride height. I'm looking at part number 710-47140 in Jegs.

I have 47140's on mine, fiberglass hood only. Stock height at rest.

Thanks. Are you running a smallblock or bigblock?
