the data tag is supposed to say what? x11, x44, x77....

im really confused and need expert help.

If it was built before about the second week of December 1968, the trim tag has nothing extra on it. If the rear seat brace has not been touched, sometimes you can see a "partial" X code in chalk with the seat back out. Partial X for Z28 would be X3 or X7 (see below).

From mid-December on, Z28 has either X33 (with Style Trim) or X77 (w/o Style Trim).

is style trim the chrome stuff around heels, etc?

those numbers only appear on factory build sheets or order forms from the dealer or broadcast sheets if they were saved. If its a norwood built car, the broadcast sheet probably wont be found. If its a LA built car, it 'might' be on top of the gas tank.
visit www.camaros.org for decoding info. and make sure to read it all and not jump to conclusions without understanding all the weird ways Chev. coded cars.
