I have a 67 that I need to swap the window, regulator, and wing from one door to another. One person told said I had to cut the seam of the weld to get the window an regulator out, but that doesn't seem right. HOw do you do it? I am hoping I can do this without having to rip the door apart and weld it back together.

I aint sure about a 67, but aint no way on a 69 you got to do that. Do you have the Fisher manual? Someone will jump in here and get you going.

'67s are a different animal. Most of us don't know how to work on them. Better call Buck.:D

Kalif:
Yes, the window can be easily removed from the door without cutting through the welds.
Procedure:
* take a small punch & hammer
* reach into door with above
* shatter glass
* reglue together in new door

Really, it can be done ...
*Lower glass to bottom and remove the rear guide roller nut and roller
*Now you have to pry the glass out of the retainer channel (this is the "U"-shaped channel with the rubber strip in it) Start at the rear using the roller hole and work to the front until glass is out of channel - I use a large screw-driver, BUT - be carefull it's easy to break/chip the glass
*Tip the rear of glass up and out of window opening and remove
(see - the first procedure would have been easier ... )
*Unbolt the regulator and snake it out of rear (larger) opening in the door
*Transfer stuff to new door.
This is from memory (I remember having a 67 or 2 ;) ) - the procedure is in the 1967 Fisher book - get one from Jim if you don't have one.

Hope this helps - Juan#2

same as 68 said. but when getting regulator out move it to back of door and get it on other side of front window. than it will slide right out rear (big hole) than remove the nuts on wing window and 1 screw on top of door. after it is all loose unscrew the adjustments out where the nuts where on and take them complety out of frame it will be easier to get out without them on.

Juan,

Thanks for the tips. One minor problem:

You forgot to tell me to wrap my hand before shattering the glass... just a flesh wound, though. Also, what is the best glue to use? :D

if you got the window out. use a little piece of old u molding they dont sell it i cut a 1 inch piece and put it on both ends than use window weld on it. buy it in local parts store. if you pull and play with window it will come out. dont need to blow it up.old piece just centers glass in channel for you.

The clear kind :D

I have a few rolls of the channel stuffing rubber stuff in the shop if you need to replace it.
