I just purchased a rear spoiler for a 69 Camaro that is supposed to be a factory unit. It thas the part # AOS 3949798 on the underside of it. I paid $140 for it.

I am wondering if anybody could tell me if that is an original part# and whether that was a "good" price.

Good price. I paid 200 for mine Part number 3949798 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=019&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=290180517572&rd=1).

$200 for a black NOS (older production) is pretty good, T. They are still available from GM for $150 to $200 or so, but the mold is getting tired or the folks filling it don't care enough; I rejected the last two (white) I ordered in June.

GM PART # 3949798
CATEGORY: Rear Comp Lid (shipped only to local fedex hub 4 pickup)
PACK QTY: 1
CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $214.10
OUR PRICE: $131.37

King, it sort of depends on condition. If it isn't cracked up, the little nubbins on the front and back undersides look good, and all the studs are there, $140 isn't too bad.

My spoiler was whitish. It was not original to my car, but I thought was an original one...it was definitely old, and I had to rebuild a couple of the nubs with epoxy.

Were the originals white or black?

I think it varied. I have seen black ones from the 80s, but the OE and current are white. Hopefully someone with more parts spotting experience knows.

The old stock ones I saw were always white, as far back as 1979 anyways.

So the spoiler I purchased is a reproduction part? The spoiler itself is looks very nice on top and bottom...but is missing 1 small stud.

No, it has the GM number so it's real. Repros cannot and do not have the part number.
