I have a few holes in the floorpan of my car and need to know what gauge metal to use. also, can i use the same gauge for the rest of my car?

I think sheet metal(quarters, hood, fenders ect.) are 22 gauge and floor pans are 20 gauge. But if you are doing a little patch in the floor 18 gauge should work also. The thicker it is the harder it is to work with, so if you just have a tin snips and a very small welder I would stay with 20 gauge and thinner (numerically higher)

said he has some 18 ga. I can try so I'll
try that first. If it's too hard, I'll
drop down to the 20.
