Hello all. I own a restoration shop in Machesney Park, IL. We specialize in Mopars, ( Don't think too bad of me!) but we do them all. We currently have a 70 Chevelle SS and a 69 Camaro SS we are restoring. Today, we got a 72 Chevelle onto our schedule. This car is supposedly a "Heavy Chevy" with a 402 engine. While I know the mopars, I'm still learning the GMs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The tag is as follows:

ST 72 - 13637 L 04533 BDY
704 A52 68 68 PNT
10A 196568 070701

The owner will decide which way to go with the restoration on what the body tag decodes. Thanks again for the help.

72- year
13637- Malibu coupe
L- Van Nuys, California
04533- Unit number
704- Black interior
A52- Bench seat
68 68- Midnight Bronze
10A- Time built
196568- Data processing numbers
070701- Data processing numbers

The VIN will tell what engine it had.

13637 cannot be a Heavy Chevy. That option was only available on model 13437, not on a 13637 Malibu. No exceptions, this is without a doubt no Heavy Chevy optioned Chevelle.
