Hello all. I own a restoration shop in Machesney Park, IL. We specialize in Mopars, ( Don't think too bad of me!) but we do them all. We currently have a 70 Chevelle SS and a 69 Camaro SS we are restoring. Today, we got a 72 Chevelle onto our schedule. This car is supposedly a "Heavy Chevy" with a 402 engine. While I know the mopars, I'm still learning the GMs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The tag is as follows:

ST 72 - 13637 L 04533 BDY
704 A52 68 68 PNT
10A 196568 070701

The owner will decide which way to go with the restoration on what the body tag decodes. Thanks again for the help.

First off - the tag you've posted refers to a 1972 model year Van Nuys, CA assembled Chevelle SS w/V-8, not 1970 ...
If that's not a 'typo', then you may need to investigate it more.

While many of us on here can post a reply, you might be better off to visit our 'sister' site - http://www.chevelles.com/

They can decode and give more specific referals to information to help you out in a shorter time I'm sure.

Would love to see more info on the 69 Camaro and have you post the cowl info in "Tag Team" if possible.

Hope this helps;
John

I believe he is asking about a 1972 Chevelle.

Also, the vin will tell you if it's a heavy chevy, a malibu or a chevelle.

:o oops - you're right ...
I read the "70" in the post and went right to it being a 70 he was talking about.
I'll start writting 'I will read the whole post carefully' 1000 times - again ...
Hope he gets the info he needs on it on Team Chevelle :thumbsup:
