Firewheel Classics Dec 6th, 07, 02:34 PM You need to go through the process of checking the dates, numbers, ect. Watch out for restamps and on and on. The best way to do it is call someone like Jerry MacNeish, and let him certify it. When you are spending that kind of money, its worth paying him to go check it out. There are plenty of fakes out there! He knows Z/28's.
78MBA Dec 6th, 07, 03:04 PM I just talked to a guy yesterday who bought a car from someone claiming to have a Z and sure enough it was a fake. The problem with this hobby is that all of these people have decided that Camaro's are now the in thing to have, they no nothing about them, do no research and pay buku money for junk driving up the prices! I liked it better when all the yuppies bought Porche's and left Camaro's alone, no offense.
alanrw Dec 6th, 07, 05:06 PM As some posted the other day, there were 20,xxx Z28's made in 1969 but there are 240,000 69Z's for sale today. If I see one more ad that is titled 1969 Z28 and it is a 307 automatic with painted stripes, my head might just explode.

Yeah, it's gotten so bad that as soon as I hear of a car being a 69Z, I automatically think it is a fake. Sad.

Yea....how many of us real Z owners had told someone that we have a "69Z28" only to have them ask if it is smallblock or a big block?
68zproject Dec 8th, 07, 10:09 AM It rolls downhill too. I'll go to a meet and more than half the people will ask me if my 68Z has the DZ 302 in it.
