Have you guys ever changed a heater core on an a/c car that has the a/c delete panel on the firewall? What will i need to do? Fender removal? Thanks

Heater cores on first gen camaros with a/c are not the funnest job i have done to date!:noway: What do you guys think a fair labor to do one of these is?

I think there are two ways of looking at a repair like this. First, just replacing the broken/worn out part, or restoring the area around the part and replacing the broken or worn out part. I say this because I replaced my heater core recently but it was during the process of refurbishing the entire interior/firewall area. I would say its a waste to just replace the core without doing a repair of everything around it and the box itself while youre at it. A shop would probably charge a small fortune to do the job right. However, I think just to replace the heater core and nothing else would be a $450 job mainly due to labor costs. The only parts would be the core, the gasket and a few new nuts, hose clamps and hoses. The trick to the 69 ac heater core is getting at the lower hose and getting at the far passenger side firewall nut that goes on the heater box clip bolt stud.

I just realized your car is a 67. Mine is a 69 so its possible my whole post is not worth much to you lol!

Thanks Rob. I thought the 250.00 i was charging him was a little low. A guess we live and learn.

I just pulled my 68 core out last night because of a leak. PITA to say the least. It didn't help that there are 3 layers of paint on the studs, and the bottom stud under the small nipple is hard to get to, and only with an open end wrench at that. The lower right stud, some difficulty but ended up taking the valve cover off for easier access.

With all that said, my leak is around the larger inlet and I am going to solder that shut and reinforce the areas around where the inlets mate with the core with additional copper for strength. The core looks good and original otherwise.

There is a post about a yr ago where I posted some pics...cutting and adapting a std cover for A/C delete..
There is a aftermarket cover...link in above old post that was too expensive.

Car has been to a few shows, had a few camaro guys looking...the never picked up on the customised delete panel.
